Four backcountry activities in one full day, starting from your Montego Bay hotel

A full-day activity combining bamboo rafting on the White River with limestone massage, ATV riding through rugged hills, horseback riding into the forest and onto the beach, and swimming at Blue Hole waterfall near Ocho Rios. Hotel pickup and drop-off in Montego Bay are included, along with a live English-speaking guide, bottled water and all fees. Moderate fitness is required.

The experience

The White River bamboo rafting is the centerpiece: you pole a bamboo raft downriver while your guide points out the safest spots to jump and swim, and a limestone massage happens in the water. Before that, you ride an ATV on rugged trails through the hills, seeing the landscape from the seat instead of a window. The horseback riding takes you through forest, down onto the beach and into the shallows: a different angle on the same terrain. Blue Hole waterfall near Ocho Rios is the final stop, where you climb, jump and swim in the natural pool.

The day runs 10 hours from pickup at your hotel in Montego Bay. Your guide travels with you and speaks English throughout. Transportation, bottled water and all activity fees are included. You'll need to bring a change of clothes, closed-toe water shoes (mandatory for climbing and riding), a waterproof phone case, two towels, sunscreen and insect repellent. Cash or card for tips, snacks and any photos or souvenirs the guide offers is separate.

This is not a guided tour where you watch from a vehicle. You operate each piece of equipment yourself. The ATV, the bamboo raft, the horse and the waterfall climbs are all hands-on. A moderate level of physical fitness is necessary. The activity is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, poor cardiovascular health or pregnancy. Children from age 6 are welcome.

What do I need to bring or wear?

Closed-toe water shoes are mandatory for climbing the waterfall, horseback riding and ATV work. Bring a change of clothes, two towels, waterproof phone case, sunscreen and insect repellent. Sneakers or water shoes work for the rafting.
