The experience

You get picked up from your hotel in an air-conditioned vehicle and driven to the starting point in the mountains near Petersfield. Once there, a certified guide greets you with a welcome drink, then hands you the keys to a brand new side-by-side ATV. From that moment, you're in control: rolling through sugar cane fields at a smooth pace, navigating mountain trails, and steering into villages where your guide points out places of interest and shares a little history. The pace is set so that riders of all fitness levels can handle it. The guide stays with you throughout.

Along the way you'll stop to meet local people, taste seasonal fruits and sugar cane straight from the fields, and visit a natural mineral pool where you can swim. The route takes you past the Roaring River and through the heart of rural Jamaica: the places tourists don't usually reach. You'll see how people actually live in the countryside, eat an Ital food lunch (prepared locally), and experience Rastafari living firsthand. Bottled water is provided throughout, and your guide handles the navigation while you focus on the ride.

The ATV and helmet are included, as is the gas to run it. Transport back to your hotel wraps up the day. Bring sunscreen and wear closed-toe shoes. The terrain is manageable but you'll be in the sun for several hours.
