The experience
You arrive at Colomaio Beach at 7 p.m. and meet your alpaca. Each one is gentle, curious, and used to being handled. The walk runs for one hour along the sand, backed by mature pine forest and the silhouette of Pizzo town. You hold the lead, learn how the alpaca communicates, and watch it wade into the sea to cool down. The alpacas enjoy the water as much as the walk itself, and you're free to join them if you want to wade in. Wear sensible footwear and bring clothes you don't mind getting wet.
Throughout the hour, you'll take interactive videos and selfies with your alpaca: the kind of footage that travels home easily and tells the story better than a still photo. On clear evenings, Stromboli volcano sits on the horizon across the water. The guide speaks English and stays with the group, but the experience is built around your bond with the individual alpaca you're leading, not a lecture. The backdrop shifts as you walk: forest opening to beach, then the town lights coming on as the sun drops.

Top questions
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Youth (14 to 17 years); Child (7 to 13 years); Infant (under 7): free.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
Can I do this walk if I've never been around alpacas before?
Yes. The alpacas here are heavily socialized and raised to be comfortable with people, including children. They're inquisitive and gentle. The walk is designed for anyone who can walk along a beach. The guide will teach you how to read the alpaca's body language and handle the lead as you go.
What happens if I'm nervous around animals?
The experience requires you to be in charge of an alpaca for the full hour, so if you have a fear of alpacas, this walk isn't the right fit. If you have mobility concerns, disabled walks can be arranged, but you'll need to book in advance to set that up.
Will I actually see Stromboli volcano from the beach?
Stromboli appears on the horizon on clear days. The coastline of Pizzo itself is always visible, backed by the pine forest and the town, but the volcano view depends on weather and visibility that evening.
What should I wear and bring?
Wear sensible footwear for the beach. You may walk on sand and possibly wade into the sea with the alpaca. Bring clothes you're comfortable getting wet or sandy. The walk runs at sunset, so it's one hour of outdoor activity in fading light.
Can I use my phone for photos and videos?
Yes. The walk is built around taking interactive videos and selfies with your alpaca. Bring your phone or camera. You'll have plenty of moments to capture as you walk and as the alpaca enjoys the water.
