The experience

The boat leaves from the marina in Tropea, near the petrol station on jetty 1, or from a second boarding point at Capo Vaticano. An experienced skipper who speaks Italian and English navigates the route, stopping at sites you won't find on your own: the Skeleton Cave, where you swim inside the rock formation; Riaci Canyon with its turquoise bay; Grotticelle Lagoon; the white cliffs of Capo Vaticano; and Praja di Fuoco. The motorboat is brand new, 11 meters long with two 350 HP engines, built for comfort and speed.

At each stop, you get in the water to snorkel among hundreds of fish or swim in bays with crystal-clear water. The boat carries sanitized snorkeling equipment (mask and tube), so you don't bring your own. A stand-up paddle board is on board if you want to try it. Between swims, you relax on deck, take in the cliffs and the ancient houses of Tropea built straight above the water, and watch the island and the Lovers' Cave from the boat. The cabin below has a bathroom, so you can change or freshen up without leaving the boat.

A local aperitif, wine, soft drinks and savory and sweet local snacks are included. If you want beer, Prosecco or Champagne, you can request them when you book and pay extra. The same goes for lunch or a birthday cake if you're celebrating. The tour runs 4 hours, and the skipper tailors the stops and timing to the group's pace. If the water is calm and everyone wants to linger at one bay, the route adjusts.
