The experience
The skipper meets you at the boat and takes the small group along the entire stretch of the Costa Degli Dei, a run of cliffs and hidden beaches that opens up only from the water. You'll pass the Santa Maria dell'Isola Monastery perched on its rock and stop at several named spots: the Bianca Grotto (also called the Cave del Cadavere), where the light plays tricks on the water and swimmers' skin; Baia Reci, a white-sand beach backed by tuff rock with natural swimming pools and caves to explore; and Capo Vaticano under the lighthouse, where rocky coves shelter small natural pools even on rougher days. The Palombaro cave, tucked directly beneath the island of Tropea itself, is a white-sand cove ringed by rock and reachable only by sea or by swimming.
Snorkeling equipment is on board and included, along with life jackets for adults and children. The fridge bar stocks drinks throughout the morning, and an aperitif is served on board. Bathroom stops happen at each main beach. If you want to rent a sea electric scooter for part of the trip, you can request one when you book. The tour runs 3 hours and operates with a live guide who speaks English or Italian.
Small groups keep the boat intimate and the pace relaxed. Children from age 1 are welcome, and the boat is wheelchair accessible. The route stays close to shore, and the skipper knows which stops suit snorkelers and which suit swimmers who want to wade and explore the rocks.
