Snorkeling in Taormina: wine tasting on the boat
The seabed stays visible and shallow across all the bays, which is why the snorkeling works without effort.
A 3-hour boat tour from Taormina that combines snorkeling at five named bays and Isola Bella with a tasting of red wine, white wine and Prosecco, plus Sicilian cheeses, salami and olives. A local guide leads the route by boat, stops you at the clearest water for swimming with snorkeling equipment provided, and serves the tasting aboard. Children from age 3 are welcome; the boat has a sundeck with cushions, shaded seating and a fridge.

The Experience
The boat leaves from Taormina beach and runs the coast for three hours, stopping at five separate bays where the water changes color and depth. Mazzarò Beach sits ten minutes out and opens into a cove ringed by green headlands—the seabed is shallow and scattered with rocks, which is what makes snorkeling possible there without any skill. Baia delle Sirene is tucked behind a small promontory, so it stays quiet; the water is low and clear enough to see the seagrass and reef fish. Isola Bella, the centerpiece, sits between two capes and is wrapped in Mediterranean scrub and exotic plants; the small beach at its base has water so transparent the rocks show their true color, and the snorkeling there is the main event of the day.
At one of the bays, the boat stops and you get in the water with the snorkeling equipment—mask, fins and snorkel provided. The guide is in the water with you or stays aboard depending on the group. The water is cold enough that a wetsuit would help, though none is mentioned as included. Between swims, you stay on the boat where there is a shaded awning, cushioned seating on the sundeck, a fridge, and music playing. The tasting happens while you are anchored: one glass of red wine, one of white, one of Prosecco, served with Sicilian cheeses, salami, olives and nuts. Water and soft drinks are available throughout.
The guide speaks English or Italian and knows the caves, the bays and which spots have the best visibility that day. If weather turns bad enough to cancel, you get a full refund and advance notice. The boat is equipped for comfort—there is a ladder for getting in and out of the water, shade for the midday heat, and a fridge so the wine stays cold. Infants sit on an adult's lap; children from 3 years old can participate fully. The tour is not suitable for travelers with spinal injuries, poor heart health or pregnancy.
