How do you get to the Bay of Ieranto? The Marine Protected Area sits inside the Punta Campanella reserve, and only boats with zero-emission engines can enter. This tour runs an 8-passenger hybrid gozzo — a traditional wooden fishing boat retrofitted with electric and fuel-cell technology — so you slip past the barrier that stops every diesel tour boat on the coast. The day starts with pickup from your hotel and a drive to Piano di Sorrento port. From there, the boat heads toward Amalfi, passing Marina Grande (the ancient fishermen's village), the ruins near the Baths of Queen Giovanna, and a natural waterfall called the Cascatella that flows straight from the rock into the sea. You'll stop twice for swimming and snorkeling in clear water, with snacks and drinks served on board. Then comes the exclusive part: entry to the Bay of Ieranto, where the silence of the hybrid engine and the protected status mean you're seeing the coast as few visitors ever do.

After Ieranto, the route continues along the Amalfi side, passing the island of Li Galli and the Emerald Grotto (weather permitting). You'll have one to two hours in Amalfi to walk the ancient Maritime Republic, then the same amount of time in Positano — the "pearl" of the coast — to explore the pastel-colored town and its main beach, Spiaggia Grande. On the return to Sorrento, there's a limoncello tasting. The whole day runs eight to nine hours. The boat holds a maximum of eight travelers, so the group stays small and the skipper can adjust the pace. He speaks English and Italian.
