The experience
The boat leaves Marina Grande in the morning and heads to Punta Campanella Marine Reserve, where two separate snorkeling sites wait. Both are accessible only by water: the kind of coves and rocky outcrops that stay empty because nobody can walk to them. You'll spend time in the water at each stop, floating over the seafloor to watch what lives there, not watching from above or from a distance. The marine biologist who leads this doesn't narrate from the boat. They're in the water with you, pointing out species and explaining what you're seeing as it happens.
The Mediterranean here stays clear enough to see the bottom, and the guide knows which fish, octopus and plant life belong to these particular rocks and reefs. You get a practical education in what's actually down there, not a rehearsed speech about marine conservation. Snorkeling equipment is provided and fitted before you leave. Snacks come along for the ride back. The whole outing runs 4 hours from start to finish.

Is this one for you? This is a shared boat with other snorkelers, so you're in the water alongside a small group rather than alone. Choose it if you want hands-on snorkeling with expert knowledge of what you're seeing, rather than a guided tour where you watch the marine environment from the boat.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English and Italian.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What's the water like for snorkeling in Sorrento in the morning?
The water stays clear enough to see the seafloor at both snorkeling sites, letting you observe native Mediterranean species in their habitat. Visibility and conditions depend on the day, but the marine biologist chooses the two stops based on what's best on the morning you go.
Do I need snorkeling experience to join this?
No experience is required. The guide is a marine biologist, not a snorkeling instructor, so this is built for people who already know how to use the equipment and are comfortable in the water. It's suitable for all fitness levels, though it's not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health.
What marine life will I see?
Native Mediterranean flora and fauna live at both sites. The marine biologist will identify species as you encounter them, but what you see depends on the season and the conditions on the day you snorkel.
How do I get to Marina Grande to start?
Marina Grande is Sorrento's main waterfront, and public transportation options are available nearby. The boat departs from there in the morning.
What's included in the price?
Snorkeling equipment, snacks, the boat ride to both sites, and the marine biologist guide are all included. All fees and taxes are built in.
