The experience

The boat leaves from one of six departure points along the coast (Praiano, Capri, Positano, Amalfi, Sorrento, Salerno or Castellammare di Stabia), and heads straight for the water. You'll pass the Faraglioni, three rock formations rising from the sea off Capri's southern edge, and slip into the White Grotto on the eastern side, where white limestone walls catch the light. The skipper navigates into the Green Grotto next, a sea cave lit by emerald reflections, then smaller grottoes like the Grotta dei Santi with its stalactite formations. At each stop, you drop anchor and snorkel in the shallows with equipment provided. The water stays calm in these protected coves.

Midway through, the boat pulls into Punta Ventroso for a longer break. You'll have an aperitif on board with prosecco, limoncello, and mixed snacks, or wade ashore to the rocky beach a few meters away if you want to explore it closer. Then it's back to the water for more snorkeling before heading to Marina Piccola, the famous beach on Capri's southern coast where the Faraglioni loom overhead. From there, you have roughly four hours of free time to walk the island (the narrow alleys, the boutiques, the restaurants, the postcard views) before the boat collects you for the return journey. The guide stays with the group during the boat portion and points out the history as you go: which caves the Romans knew, where Emperor Tiberius bathed, which rock formations have names.

Groups max out at twelve people, and the skipper and a steward are on board the whole time. You get beach towels, floats if you need them, and all the snorkeling gear. Water, soft drinks, beer and Sprite are included throughout the day. Bad weather can force a reschedule or full refund, and the itinerary may shift if safety or conditions demand it: the operator reserves that right. The total eight hours includes travel time from your departure point to the first stop and back.

Is this one for you?Choose your departure point at checkout to match where you're staying along the coast. The four-hour free time on Capri works well if you want to see the island's center and shops, but if you'd rather spend the whole day in the water, you can use that time for a second snorkel or a long lunch ashore before heading back to the boat.

Top questions

What languages is the tour guided in?

Live guide in English and Italian.

What happens if it rains?

It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.

What's the water like for snorkeling around Capri?

The coves where you snorkel stay calm and sheltered from wave motion, with turquoise and crystalline water. The depth and visibility let you see marine life and rock formations clearly, and the stops are chosen for their protected conditions, so even less confident swimmers can enter the water safely.

Can I visit the Blue Grotto on this tour?

The Blue Grotto is not included in the standard route, but you can visit it during your four-hour free time on Capri. The guide will give you directions to reach it from Marina Piccola, and you can decide whether to spend your time there or explore the island another way.

How much time do I actually spend snorkeling versus traveling?

The eight-hour total includes boat travel from your departure point and back, plus multiple anchor breaks for swimming and snorkeling at different grottoes and coves. You'll have several stops in the water, each lasting long enough to explore, plus the four-hour break ashore at Marina Piccola where you leave the boat entirely.

What happens if the weather turns bad?

If bad weather affects the experience, you can reschedule to a different date or receive a full refund. The operator may also change the itinerary if circumstances beyond their control require it, to keep everyone safe.

Which departure point is closest to where I'm staying?

You can choose your departure point at checkout: Praiano, Capri, Positano, Amalfi, Sorrento, Salerno, Castellammare di Stabia, or Maiori Vietri Cetara. Pick the one nearest your accommodation, and the boat will collect you from the private dock there.
