The experience
You're picked up from Pisa or Lucca in the morning and travel through Tuscany in an air-conditioned coach with a guide who talks through the landscape as you go. The route takes you to San Gimignano first, the "Manhattan of Tuscany", where you have time to walk the medieval walled town, climb to its hilltop views, grab a coffee in the main square, visit the Cathedral, browse ceramics and leather goods, or eat gelato. The order of the two towns can shift depending on the day, so confirm when you book.
From there you head to Siena, where the Piazza del Campo (the shell-shaped square at the city's heart) is the landmark most visitors come to see. You'll have time to wander the narrow alleys, find hidden piazzas, step into the Duomo to see its frescoes, and eat at a local restaurant. The guide is there to orient you, but the stops and how long you spend at each one are yours to decide. Bring cash or cards for meals, coffee and any entry fees to attractions. Those aren't covered by the tour price.

Top questions
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (3 to 13 years): free; Infant (under 3): free.
What's the Piazza del Campo and why does everyone go there?
The Piazza del Campo is Siena's main square, famous for its shell shape and as the home of the Palio, a centuries-old horse race held twice each summer. It's the heart of the city and surrounded by medieval buildings, making it the natural gathering point for visitors exploring on foot.
Can I choose how much time to spend in each town?
The guide brings the group to both San Gimignano and Siena, but once you arrive, you decide how long to stay at each stop and which sites to visit. You might spend an hour in one town's square and two hours exploring the other, depending on what interests you.
Do I need to pay extra for entry to the Cathedral or other sites?
Entry fees to attractions like the Duomo in Siena are not included in the tour price, so budget separately if you want to go inside. The same applies to any museums or paid viewpoints you choose to visit.
Is lunch included, or do I eat on my own?
Meals are not included, so you'll eat at a restaurant or café of your choice in either town. The guide can suggest places, but you pay for your own food and drinks.
What if I'm staying in Lucca instead of Pisa?
You can book the small group option departing from Lucca instead, which picks you up from your accommodation there. The rest of the day (the towns visited, the duration, the guide) stays the same.
