The experience
You'll spend two hours in the water with a PADI instructor guiding you through Catania's Ionian coast. The seabed here is sculpted by ancient lava flows and submarine volcanoes, creating an underwater topography most divers don't see in typical resort dives. The operator provides the full kit (wetsuit, mask, fins, buoyancy compensator, regulator, tank and weights), so you arrive and dive without bringing or renting gear separately.
The dive stays at a maximum depth of five meters, which keeps you in control and lets you focus on the moment rather than managing buoyancy or decompression. A PADI instructor stays with you throughout, watching your breathing and hand signals. You don't need a diving license or any prior experience. The test of immersion is designed for people trying scuba for the first time. The operator picks you up from your accommodation, so you're not arranging transport to the coast.
Bottled water and snacks are included, though the two-hour window means you're back with time to do something else that afternoon: lunch in the city, a walk through Catania's baroque squares, or a rest before evening plans.

Is this one for you?The two-hour window means you're done by early afternoon, so this works as a morning activity before exploring Catania's city center or heading to another part of Sicily. If you want a full-day diving experience or multiple dives, look for a longer excursion instead.
