The Experience
The Sinis peninsula opens the tour with an optional loop through wetlands where pink flamingos nest, then the route climbs to the Phoenician ruins of Tharros overlooking quartz beaches. From there you cycle into the Costa Verde, some of the most dramatic coastline on the island—the landscape shifts from scrub to cliff face as you pass Piscinas beach, where sand dunes rise over 50 meters, among the highest in Europe. The route then traces the mining heritage of the southwest: you'll ride past the Pan di Zucchero cliff and stop at Nebida to see the old ore washery, its industrial structures now framed by Mediterranean brush.
Island hopping breaks up the cycling. You'll ferry to Carloforte, where the local fleet still fishes for red tuna the traditional way, then return to the mainland for Tratalias and its Pisan sanctuary—one of Sardinia's most important Romanesque monuments. The final stretch runs the Costa del Sud, a run of white beaches, unspoilt landscape and imposing headlands: Cape Malfatano with its 16th-century tower, then Cape Spartivento. The tour ends in Pula with a cold Ichnusa beer in the town square.
Seven nights split between 3-star hotels and agriturismo, all with en-suite bathrooms; breakfasts are included each morning. Baggage moves from hotel to hotel so you ride with only what you need for the day. Digital route notes guide you, and a live guide in English or Italian leads the group. Telephone support is available if you need it. Bike rental (standard or e-bike) can be added at checkout; ferries to the islands and entry to museums and archaeological sites are separate.
