The Experience

The day starts at Marina di Torregrande and heads inland toward Cabras, a village known for its lagoon fishery and bottarga — salted fish eggs. From there you pedal through Riola Sardo, where an olive mill stop lets you taste several varieties of local oil before the road opens onto the Sinis Peninsula itself. The route stays on quieter roads where traffic is light and the air carries the scent of wild vegetation; depending on the season, pink flamingos settle on the beaches at Putzu Idu.

The peninsula's beaches come one after another — Putzu Idu with its reputation for flamingos, Is Arutas where the sand is made of white quartz grains, and Mari Ermi with its particular colors. The pedaling is steady but the landscape shifts constantly. By mid-afternoon you reach San Giovanni di Sinis, where the Roman harbour ruins of Tharros sit on a promontory overlooking the Oristano gulf. The final stretch loops back to Marina di Torregrande, where the tour ends and a swim in the sea is possible if you want it.

The bike is included, as are a helmet and other safety gear. A live guide leads the group in English or Spanish, managing the pace and timing so the 45 km and all the stops fit inside the 8 hours. Pickup is included; children are welcome from age 12 onward.
