The experience
You're picked up from your hotel and climb onto the back of a 125cc Vespa with a driver who knows Rome's streets and can thread through traffic no car tour can navigate. The ride itself is the point. You move like a local, stop where a car would never fit, and see corners of the city most visitors miss. The driver handles all the routing and timing. You hold on and take in the ride.
The tour hits the major landmarks in sequence: you circle the Colosseum for photos, see the Pyramid of Caius Cestius (Rome's only pyramid), ride through Testaccio to learn about the district's ancient history and food culture, climb Janiculum Hill for a view across the city, pass St. Peter's Square and the Pantheon, cross Piazza Navona with its fountains and churches, stop at Trevi Fountain to throw in a coin, visit the Spanish Steps, and finish at Largo di Torre Argentina where Julius Caesar was killed. If the Pantheon is open when you arrive, you go inside to see the ancient monument and its secrets. The whole loop takes 2.5 hours.
Your driver speaks English, Spanish, Italian or French. Pick your language when you book. The Vespa is small and quick, so the ride covers ground fast and stops are brief, mostly for photos and the driver's stories about each place. Weight limit is 99 kg (218 lbs). If you're heavier, contact the operator before booking. This is not a self-drive tour. You sit behind the driver the whole time.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English, Spanish, French and Italian.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
Can I ride a Vespa if I have back or spine problems?
No. The operator does not recommend this tour for travelers with spinal injuries because of the vibration and movement of the scooter. If you have concerns about your back, contact the operator before booking.
What is Testaccio and why does the driver take you there?
Testaccio is an ancient Roman district with a unique history (it was built on a mountain of broken pottery shards from the Roman era), and it's known today as a neighborhood where Romans actually eat and live. The driver shows you this side of Rome beyond the tourist landmarks and explains the place's story.
Will we go inside the Pantheon, or just see it from outside?
If the Pantheon is open when your tour arrives, you go inside to see the ancient Roman monument, its dome and the stories behind it. If it's closed, you see it from the Vespa and the driver explains it from outside.
Is hotel pickup really included, or only from certain areas?
Pickup is included if your hotel is in central Rome. When you book, confirm your hotel location and the operator will confirm whether pickup applies to your specific address.
What do I need to bring or wear for a Vespa ride through Rome?
Wear comfortable clothes you don't mind getting a little wind-worn, and closed-toe shoes. Bring a camera or phone for photos at stops. The driver provides a helmet. Sunscreen and sunglasses are useful on a sunny day.
How does the Vespa tour avoid the crowds at famous spots like Trevi Fountain?
The Vespa can park and stop where larger tour buses cannot, and the driver knows the timing and angles to hit each landmark efficiently. You're not waiting in long lines. You stop for photos and move on. At Trevi Fountain, you throw in your coin and go. You're not staying to linger in the crowd.
