The experience

The bikes are already lined up when you arrive at the rental point near Rome Termini, and your guide is ready to walk you through the basics before you clip in. The route starts on the Via Appia Antica itself: the same stones that carried Roman legions, and now closed to regular traffic except for residents. You'll spend the next few hours cycling on that original Roman paving, the basolato, which is uneven under your tires but somehow makes the whole thing feel real in a way a smooth modern path never could. The e-bike does most of the work, so even if you haven't cycled in years, the pedaling stays manageable.

After the initial stretch along the Appian Way, the route takes you into the Parco degli Acquedotti, the Aqueduct Park, where the massive stone arches rise up around you like a landscape from another era.
