The experience

You'll ride a quad through the Bandite di Scarlino woods along the typical dirt roads of the Maremma, discovering the local landscapes, colors and scents as you go. The terrain is Mediterranean scrub (the kind of country that defines this part of Tuscany), and the route is designed so anyone with basic riding practicality can handle it. Helmets and balaclavas are provided, and the guide leads in either English or Italian.

After the ride, you head to a former chestnut drying house where the barbecue happens: grilled sausage, cheese, bread and wine, all included. Bottled water comes with it too. The whole outing takes about two and a half hours from start to finish, so it fits into an afternoon without dominating the day.

A B-class driving license is required to operate the quad. If you don't have one, you can book as a passenger riding with a driver. Groups are kept to a maximum of five quads, all with two seats. Children as young as twelve can participate, and the activity suits all fitness levels. It's built for fun and experience, not endurance.
