The experience
The tour runs nine hours and starts from your hotel, port or train station. Your driver handles the route while you take in the Amalfi Coast road, one of Europe's most photographed stretches, and the guide offers commentary in your chosen language. The minivan is air-conditioned and fits a small group, which means the stops feel less rushed than a coach tour and the driver can pull over when the light hits right.
Sorrento opens the day in Piazza Torquato Tasso, the main square where you can walk the historic center on your own or step into one of the limoncello factories for a free tasting of the region's signature liqueur. From there the road climbs and curves along the coast. The driver stops at viewpoints so you can photograph the cliffs and sea without fighting for space. Positano comes next: a former fishing village now lined with pastel houses stacked down the mountainside. You walk the narrow streets yourself, passing the cathedral of Sant'Assunta and arriving at Fornillo beach at the bottom. There is no fixed schedule for how long you stay. The guide tells you when to meet back at the car.
Amalfi, the town the entire coast is named for, is the final stop. You visit Piazza Flavio Gioia and the cathedral dedicated to Sant'Andrea, patron saint of sailors. The town is famous for artisan ice cream made in small batches. The guide can point you toward the best spots, and you choose what to try. The return journey follows the same coastal road in reverse, arriving back at your starting point by evening.

Is this one for you?The nine-hour commitment means you see three distinct villages and the full coastal road in one day, but it also leaves no room for a long meal or a beach swim. Book this if you want the overview and the drive itself, not if you are planning to spend hours in one place.
