The experience
The tour leaves at 8 a.m. from your hotel in Sorrento or Naples and heads toward the coast on the Amalfi Drive, a winding road cut into cliffs above the Mediterranean. You'll stop several times along the way for photos as the road passes through fishing villages like Praiano, Furore and Conca Dei Marini before reaching Amalfi town. The Amalfi Coast earned UNESCO World Heritage status in 1997, and the drive itself is the reason: the road hugs the coastline with views that open at every turn.
In Amalfi center, you have an hour to walk around Piazza Duomo, visit the cathedral of St. Andrew, explore the Museum of Handmade Paper, or simply sit with a gelato and watch the waterfront. After that, the driver takes you uphill to Bomerano village, where you begin the Path of the Gods on foot. This ridge walk connects Bomerano to Nocelle village and is one continuous path. There's no way to get lost. The driver waits for you in Nocelle's main square when you finish. If you'd like, the driver can then take you to a family-run restaurant for lunch before heading to Positano.
Positano is a vertical village built into the cliffs, famous for its narrow streets that descend to a small beach, designer boutiques, outdoor cafés and handmade sandals and ceramics. The Church of Santa Maria Assunta has a majolica-tiled dome and a thirteenth-century Byzantine icon. After time in Positano, the driver returns you to your accommodation in Sorrento or Naples. The vehicle is air-conditioned throughout, and all tolls, parking and fuel are covered.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English and Italian.
What is the Path of the Gods like to walk?
The Path of the Gods is a single ridge trail connecting Bomerano and Nocelle villages with no turns or forks. You cannot get lost. It is one of the most famous walks on the Amalfi Coast. The driver drops you at the start and waits at the end, so you walk one direction only.
How much time do I spend in each place?
Amalfi town gets one hour. The Path of the Gods walk takes as long as you need. The driver waits for you. Positano is unscheduled, so you decide how long to spend there before the return drive to Sorrento or Naples.
Can I choose to skip the hike or do it differently?
The tour is built around the Path of the Gods hike, and the driver will be waiting for you at Nocelle village. If hiking is not for you, this tour combines the drive and the towns, but the hike is the centerpiece of the day.
Do I need to arrange lunch, or is it included?
Lunch is not included in the tour price. After the hike, the driver can take you to a family-run restaurant if you'd like, but you pay for the meal separately. You can also bring your own food or eat elsewhere in Positano.
What's included in the tour price?
The price covers the air-conditioned vehicle for eight hours, the English-speaking driver, all tolls, parking and fuel. Entrance fees to any sites in Amalfi or Positano and lunch are separate. Gratuity for the driver is optional and paid directly to them.
Can I book this tour from Naples instead of Sorrento?
Yes, you can choose pickup from either Naples or Sorrento at checkout. The tour and itinerary are the same. Only the starting point changes.
