  • Yoga session at Palazzo Sambiasi

The Experience

The first thing I noticed walking into Yogalab was the hush—like the city outside had pressed pause. The studio sits right in the heart of Lecce’s old town, tucked away inside Palazzo Sambiasi. Even before we started, you could feel that old stone holding onto the cool from the night before. There’s a faint scent of incense and fresh coffee drifting in from a nearby café—Bar Avio, I think—just down the street.

Our teacher, Giulia, greeted us with a smile and switched easily between Italian and English as folks trickled in. Mats were already laid out (no need to bring your own), along with bricks and straps for anyone who needed them. We had people from all over—some regulars, some travelers just passing through. The session lasted about an hour; we moved through Hatha and Vinyasa flows at a gentle pace. Giulia kept an eye on everyone’s form but never made it feel strict or formal. By the end, I felt lighter—like my mind had finally caught up with my body.
