Lake Como boat tour: 4 hours with villas and Bellagio stop
A wooden boat, prosecco, and the villas that made Lake Como famous
A private 4-hour boat tour of Lake Como aboard a classic wooden motorboat, departing from Como and stopping for an hour in Bellagio, Varenna, or Isola Comacina. You pass Villa Balbianello (Casino Royale filming location), Villa Cassinella, and George Clooney's Villa Oleandra in Laglio, with time to swim in the lake's quiet waters and explore the village before returning.
Step-by-step itinerary
Private 4-hour Lake Como boat tour
- Board luxury wooden motorboat
- Pass historic villas and resorts
- Stop 1 hour in Bellagio or Varenna
- Relax, swim, or explore village
- Continue sailing past famous villas
- Return to Como via opposite bank
The experience
The boat is an eight-meter wooden vessel in dolce vita style, built for comfort and photographs. You'll have a Bimini top for shade, a refrigerator on board, and a bottle of prosecco included. The guide speaks English or Italian and points out the villas as you pass: Villa Balbiano (where scenes from The House of Gucci were filmed), Villa Cassinella from the 1800s, and Villa Balbianello, a 16th-century monastery turned five-star resort with gardens that appeared in Casino Royale. The boat holds a maximum of six passengers, so the group stays small.
You'll cruise past Laglio to photograph Villa Oleandra, George Clooney's summer home, then head toward Bellagio or Varenna (or Isola Comacina, depending on your choice). The one-hour stop lets you swim in the lake's calm waters, walk the village, grab Italian gelato, or sit down for lunch. On the return to Como, you take the opposite bank, seeing a different set of villas and the Mandarin Oriental resort across the water.
The boat is regularly inspected and equipped with full safety gear. Children can board from age four. Bottled water and USB chargers are available on board, and the wooden hull and open design make it easy to move around for photos or to step into the water during the stop.
