Summary

Private motorboat cruise on Lake Como with swimming stop and prosecco

You’ll glide across Lake Como on a private luxury boat with a local captain—passing famous villas, sipping prosecco, and stopping for a swim near Villa Pliniana if you’re brave enough. Listen to stories about movie stars and old legends as you cruise past Cernobbio and Laglio. The breeze, laughter, and views will stick with you long after you’re back on shore.

experience

What’s the experience like?

I didn’t realize how blue Lake Como could look until we pulled away from the pier in Como — honestly, it almost felt fake at first. Marco was our captain (he shook my hand with both of his), and he seemed to know every ripple and villa along the shore. The Life Electric sculpture glinted behind us as we sped past, wind whipping my hair into knots I still haven’t managed to untangle. There’s something about seeing Villa Olmo from the water that makes it feel even grander — like you’re sneaking a peek at someone’s secret garden.

We drifted by Cernobbio next, and Marco started telling us about Luchino Visconti’s old place (Villa Erba) and how George Clooney sometimes waves from his balcony in Laglio — not today though, just a few ducks and a fisherman nodding as we passed. I tried to say “Moltrasio” properly; Marco grinned but didn’t correct me. The air smelled faintly of wood from someone’s fireplace mixed with that cool lake scent. He pointed out Versace’s old villa too, tucked behind some trees. It’s wild how many stories are hidden in these walls.

When we stopped near Villa Pliniana for a swim, the water was colder than I expected — sharp at first, then just refreshing. My partner shrieked when she jumped in (she’ll probably deny it later). We clambered back up for prosecco — cold glass, tiny bubbles, sun warming my shoulders while Marco told us about storms that sometimes roll over these hills without warning. On the way back past Torno and the Mandarin Oriental, I caught myself staring at the light on the water instead of listening to the stories. Still think about that view sometimes.
