The experience
The boat leaves Trapani at a time that feels early until you're already floating past Cala Azzurra and realize the crowds haven't arrived yet. The water there is so clear you can see the white seabed and the pink tuff reflections before you jump in, and that's when you understand why the Egadi Islands pull people back. Groups stay under twelve, which means no jostling for deck space or waiting your turn to snorkel. You just slip in when you're ready, mask on, and watch the fish move around you like they own the place.
The day moves at its own pace. After Cala Azzurra, you sail to Bue Marino, where the quarries cut into the cliff face make the whole cove look like something built rather than found. The water is deep and clear, perfect for diving or just floating and staring up at the rock. Then comes Cala Rossa, which is the one everyone talks about. The rocks are shaped like nothing else, the water reflects colors you don't have names for, and you get time to swim or sit on the boat with a cold drink and let it sink in. Two more stops follow: Cala Fredda with its pebble beach and Caribbean-colored water, then a final cove ringed by pine forest where the seabed is a mix of rock, sand and seagrass, and the green is so bright it looks painted. That's where the day ends, with one last swim before heading back to Trapani.
