Egadi Islands Boat Tour: Favignana & Levanzo from Trapani
Six coves, two islands, one boat—and you don't have to plan a thing
You board a small boat in Trapani and spend the day island-hopping between Favignana and Levanzo, swimming and snorkeling at five named coves with water so clear you see the seabed. Lunch is on your own in Favignana village; drinks, snorkeling gear and a local white wine are included. Groups stay under twelve, and the full day on the water means you're back in Trapani by evening.
Step-by-step itinerary
Boat tour of Egadi Islands
- Depart from Trapani by boat
- Stop at Cala Azzurra for swimming
- Visit Bue Marino for snorkeling
- Swim and relax at Cala Rossa
- Stop at Favignana port for free time
- Sail to Levanzo island
- Swim at Cala Fredda cove
- Final swim at pine forest cove
The Experience
The boat leaves Trapani at a time that feels early until you're already floating past Cala Azzurra and realize the crowds haven't arrived yet. The water there is so clear you can see the white seabed and the pink tuff reflections before you jump in, and that's when you understand why the Egadi Islands pull people back. Groups stay under twelve, which means no jostling for deck space or waiting your turn to snorkel—you just slip in when you're ready, mask on, and watch the fish move around you like they own the place.
The day moves at its own pace. After Cala Azzurra, you sail to Bue Marino, where the quarries cut into the cliff face make the whole cove look like something built rather than found. The water is deep and clear, perfect for diving or just floating and staring up at the rock. Then comes Cala Rossa, which is the one everyone talks about—the rocks are shaped like nothing else, the water reflects colors you don't have names for, and you get time to swim or sit on the boat with a cold drink and let it sink in. On board there's fresh Coca-Cola, iced tea, seasonal fruit, and local white wine from Cantine Fina, which tastes better when you're salt-dried and the sun is still climbing.
Favignana is next—you dock at the port and have free time to walk the village streets, eat lunch at a restaurant that knows what it's doing, or just sit with a coffee and watch the fishing boats. After that, the boat heads to Levanzo, the smallest and quietest of the three islands, where the harbor feels like you've stepped into another decade. The crossing itself is part of it; the skipper knows the water and the route, and you're moving between islands the way people have for centuries. Two more stops follow—Cala Fredda with its pebble beach and Caribbean-colored water, then a final cove ringed by pine forest where the seabed is a mix of rock, sand and seagrass, and the green is so bright it looks painted. That's where the day ends, with one last swim before heading back to Trapani.
Bring a beach towel and sunscreen. Everything else—snorkeling masks, drinks, the skipper, all the fuel to get you there and back—is handled. You're not renting a boat or figuring out which cove to hit first; you're just showing up at the dock and letting the day happen.
