The experience
The boat leaves from the Dammusello district in Marsala, where the skipper (identifiable by a blue polo shirt with the Navigare le Egadi logo) meets you at the dinghy dock. The dinghy is equipped with all legally required safety gear and designed for comfort on the water. The skipper is certified for this stretch of sea and describes each place as you approach it, but the day is built around what you do in the water, not what you watch from the boat.
Cala Rossa is the first stop for snorkeling, where you can dive into clear water to see the seabed. Cala Azzurra follows: one of the most beautiful coves for its blue water and shallow seabed, with a small beach reachable by swimming where you can find clay mud. Bue Marino is the most dramatic: turquoise water, ancient quarries carved into the rock both by hand and by sea erosion, and small caves where you can snorkel and explore the seabed. The stop here depends on sea currents, so the skipper adjusts the plan to what the day allows. Between swims, you eat focaccia from a local baker filled with fresh salami, mixed Sicilian appetizers, and taste three wines from Cantine Gandolfo (Grillo, Zibibbo and Amaro) along with water, juice, fruit and non-alcoholic options.
After the water stops, the boat moors at Favignana's port for a one-hour visit to the town. You can walk its small streets, stop at a bar for granita, or visit the Florio Museum, Turtle Center or the Tonnara di Favignana if time allows. At the end of the day, you receive a souvenir envelope containing a bottle of Marsala Gandolfo wine, a small mill and salt from the Marsala salt pans.
