The experience
You arrive at the boat in Trapani and step aboard a small rib with a skipper and a handful of other travelers. The day is not fixed: depending on the sea and the weather, you help decide which route makes sense. That flexibility is what opens access to Cala Rossa, where the turquoise water is Favignana's signature, and to Cala Azzurra, where the blue tone of the cove is so distinct it earned its name. You snorkel in waters where the seabed is rich with fish and poseidonia, and the underwater life is what people come for.
The boat carries you past the tuff quarries that cut into Favignana's cliffs, then into the fishing village where you eat a lunch of pane cunzato, a typical Sicilian bread. After, you cross to Levanzo, where white houses with blue windows line the harbor and the sea stack rises above a sandy beach. You can walk the village's narrow streets, swim at Cala Fredda, a beach surrounded by wild scrub, and dive in at Cala Minnola, a cove ringed by pine forest where the water is emerald. As the sun drops, you return to the boat for an aperitif with music, and the skipper heads back to Trapani as the light changes.
Snorkel gear is provided, along with bottled water and snacks throughout the day. Entry to the marine protected area is included. The remaining time on the water is sailing between stops: no rushed schedule, just the pace of moving between islands.
