The Experience
The boat leaves Monterosso and heads south along the coast, passing Vernazzo close enough to photograph the village stacked against the cliffs. You'll sail past Guvano beach and see Corniglia and Manarola rising above the water, both known for the terraced vineyards that produce the local wine you'll drink later. The route continues to Riomaggiore and finishes at Punta Montenero, the southeastern edge of the park, where the boat stops for swimming and snorkelling.
While you're in the water with snorkelling gear provided, the crew prepares lunch below deck using local ingredients and regional specialties. Where you eat depends on the day's weather — Punta Montenero, Monterosso bay or Vernazzo harbour — but the meal and the wine come with you either way. Wine, Prosecco, beer and limoncello are available on board for adults; soft drinks and water for everyone. The itinerary includes time to simply float and look at the islands of Palmaria, Tino and Tinetto visible from the water.
On the return, the boat sails further out and passes Punta Mesco, the northeastern point of the park, before heading back to Monterosso. The whole loop takes 4.5 hours. A guide travels with the group and speaks English, Spanish or Italian.
