The experience

What separates this from watching a demonstration is that you're the one holding the brush. The class starts with a brief explanation of the Amalfi Coast's ceramic tradition, then you move straight to decorating an object using the majolica technique. The hand-painted style that made this region famous. A professional guides you through the process, but the work is yours.

Once you finish decorating, the studio takes care of the rest. Your piece goes into a special kiln where it slowly reaches 950°C. The firing happens after you leave, and the finished object gets shipped to you, so you're not carrying a fragile ceramic through the rest of your trip. Before you go, you get a taste of local limoncello and a souvenir photo. The whole experience takes two hours.

The studio occupies one of the operator's locations in Positano, positioned on a small road with views toward the water. You'll wear an apron during the class, and all decoration materials are provided. Wheelchair access is available, and the space accommodates strollers and service animals.
