The experience
The boat leaves Marina Grande in Sorrento before the day crowds arrive, sailing along the Sorrentine Peninsula to reach Capri's most photographed landmarks. You'll see the White Grotto from the water (white limestone walls and stalactites framing a surreal contrast of light and blue sea), then pass the Faraglioni, the three iconic rock formations that define the island's silhouette. The Green Grotto, less crowded than its famous blue cousin, shows off green reflections cast by sunlight filtering through algae on the cave walls. The water inside is clear enough to swim in if conditions allow.
Once you reach Capri town, you step off the boat for four hours to explore however you want. Some travelers head straight to the Blue Grotto (expect a line and a small boat transfer to enter), others ride the chairlift up Mount Solaro or wander the Piazzetta in Capri Town. Villa Jovis, Emperor Tiberius's 1st-century Roman villa, sits on the eastern cliffs. The Gardens of Augustus offer panoramic views of the Faraglioni. You set your own pace and meet the boat when you're ready.
Before heading back to Sorrento, the boat stops for a 30-minute swim in Marina Piccola, one of the island's most beautiful bays. Snorkeling masks, noodles and life jackets are on hand if you need them. Lunch on board features organic, plant-based ingredients: vegetarian and vegan meals are standard, and gluten-free guests get a GF tomato-mozzarella sandwich and muffin if you note it when booking. Wine, prosecco, beer and limoncello come with the meal, along with water and soft drinks throughout the day.

Top questions
What languages is the guide in?
Live guide in English, Spanish and Italian.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (3 to 9 years); Infant (under 3): free.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
How early does the boat leave Sorrento, and when do we get back?
The tour departs in the early morning from Marina Grande in Sorrento to avoid crowds. The full day runs about 7.5 hours, so you'll return to Sorrento in the afternoon.
What exactly is the Green Grotto, and is it different from the Blue Grotto?
The Green Grotto is a sea cave on Capri where sunlight filters through the water and reflects off green algae on the walls, creating emerald-colored reflections. It's smaller and less famous than the Blue Grotto, so it's quieter. You can swim inside if sea conditions permit. The Blue Grotto, which you'll have time to visit during your four-hour island stop, is the more iconic cave with vibrant blue waters, though entry involves a wait and a separate small-boat transfer.
Do I have to stay with the group during the island time, or can I explore on my own?
You have four hours free on Capri to explore independently. You can visit the Blue Grotto, ride the chairlift to Mount Solaro, walk through Capri Town, or visit Villa Jovis. Just return to the boat when the guide tells you.
What's included in the lunch, and can you handle dietary needs?
Lunch on board features organic, plant-based ingredients as the standard menu. Vegetarian and vegan meals are built in. Gluten-free guests receive a GF tomato-mozzarella sandwich and a GF muffin if you specify when booking. Wine, prosecco, beer and limoncello come with the meal, plus water and soft drinks all day.
Is snorkeling equipment provided, and what if I'm not a strong swimmer?
Snorkeling masks, snorkels, foam noodles and life jackets are all provided. Life jackets are available on request for anyone who wants extra support in the water during the 30-minute swim stop in Marina Piccola.
