The experience
You start with pickup from your Milan hotel (or a nearby meeting point if traffic restrictions apply), and drive south into Piedmont. The first stop is a winery in the Barolo area, where the guide leads you through the cellar and out into the vineyards before settling in for a tasting of several wines and vintages. This first visit runs about ninety minutes. After that comes lunch at a traditional local restaurant, where you eat what the region actually eats.
In the afternoon, you travel through the Langhe hills to a second winery in Barbaresco. The drive itself is part of the day: rolling vineyards, small villages, time to stop for photos if something catches your eye. The second winery visit follows the same shape: cellar tour, vineyard walk, tastings of local wines. By late afternoon, the driver takes you back to Milan and your hotel.
The guide is a local winemaker and winery owner, not a hired narrator. That changes what you hear: instead of a script about the region, you get someone talking about the work. Why the soil matters here, how the vintage shaped the wine in your glass, what the cellar does. The tour runs privately, which means the pace is yours and the questions get answered without an eye on a group schedule.
