The hike starts in Bomerano, Agerola, where your guide Enzo (look for the white hat) will brief you on what's ahead. The Path of the Gods itself is a classic Amalfi trail that drops steadily from the mountain villages down toward the coast, and the views open up almost immediately. You can see the entire coastline and Capri in the distance. The route is shared, so you'll hike with other travelers, and Enzo speaks English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and one additional language, so language is not a barrier.
The walk is moderate difficulty with plenty of ups and downs, though the overall direction is downhill. You'll need to be reasonably fit and wear closed-toe hiking shoes or trail running shoes with good grip. The terrain is rocky and uneven, and flip-flops or sandals won't work. Along the way, Enzo explains the flora, fauna and culture of the region, and you might spot goats. If you book the afternoon departure, you could catch the sunset. The hike takes around three hours to cover the 7 kilometers, and poles are available if you ask for them the day before.
You finish in Nocelle, a village perched above Positano, where the tour ends and you're free to explore on your own. From mid-April through mid-October, a local bar offers a complimentary organic lemon slush (granita di limone): a small, genuine touch that marks the end of the walk. In summer, bring a swimming suit if you want to head down to Fornillo or Arienzo beach afterward. Enzo can also share photos he takes during the hike directly with you.
