Amalfi Coast: Sentiero dei Limoni Trek & Lemon Tasting
The path is mostly stairs, and that's what keeps the lemon groves from feeling crowded.
You walk a three-kilometer path of lemon terraces between two coastal villages, mostly on stairs, with a local guide explaining the landscape and the history. Halfway through, you stop at a farm to taste lemon jam, liqueur and salad made from sfusato lemons grown right there. The walk takes about two hours, and you get free time at the end to sit with the view before heading back down.

The Experience
You notice it right away — the smell hits you before you see the trees. The Sentiero dei Limoni climbs out of Maiori as a narrow staircase cut into the mountainside, and within the first few minutes you're surrounded by sfusato lemon plants hanging so close you could reach out and touch them. The path is about three kilometers long, mostly steps with some flat stretches, and it connects Maiori to Minori along the Amalfi Coast. Your guide walks with you, pointing out how the terraces are built and explaining why this particular lemon variety grows nowhere else quite like it does here.
Halfway through, you stop at a working farm where they grow and process the lemons themselves. That's when the tasting happens — not in a shop, but in the actual place where they make it. You try the jam first, then a small glass of limoncello, then something unexpected: a salad made from the lemon itself, shredded and dressed. The guide talks about how families have worked these same terraces for generations, and you start to understand why the path feels the way it does — it's not a hiking trail someone built for tourists, it's the route people have used to get between villages for centuries. The stairs are worn smooth in places from that much walking.
After the tasting, you get free time to sit with the view. Maiori and Minori both sit below you on the coast, the sea beyond them, and most people spend it taking photos or just standing there. The walk down takes about the same time as the walk up, so plan for roughly two hours of actual walking plus the tasting stop. Parking is available at a reduced rate if you're driving, and if you're using public transport, the bus stops near the starting point. The guide covers the history and agricultural traditions as you walk, so you're learning the whole time without it feeling like a lecture.
What’s included
Your experience includes a local guide for the full walk, entry to the lemon farm, a tasting of sfusato lemon jam, liqueur and salad, historical and cultural information about the terraces and local agricultural traditions, and free time to relax and take photos at the viewpoint. Parking is available at a reduced rate if you're driving.

Is this one for you?Right for travelers staying on the Amalfi Coast who want to walk the actual landscape instead of just looking at it from a bus. The stairs are the whole point — they're what keeps the terraces from being developed, which is why the lemon groves still look and smell like this.
