The experience

The tour covers 40 km and climbs 600 metres over roughly three and a half hours, depending on how the group rides. You start at Punta Giglio, a clifftop promontory 60 metres above the sea where anti-aircraft batteries from World War II sit among the rocks: a place where history and landscape collide. The e-bike's motor handles the steeper sections, so the effort stays manageable even when the path tilts upward. A helmet is required and included. The bike sizes run small, medium and large to fit riders from 150 to 190 centimetres.

From there the route drops to Mugoni Beach, a sheltered cove with fine sand and water so clear the seabed shows through. You cycle through the Prigionette Nature Reserve, a state forest where Sardinian donkeys and wild horses roam among Mediterranean scrub and rocky outcrops. The paths wind through unspoilt terrain (some asphalt, some dirt, some forest track), and the guide reads the group's pace and adjusts. A stop at the Porto Conte tower, which now holds a museum about the writer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, gives a view across the bay. The tour ends at Capo Caccia, a panoramic point where the islet Foradada sits offshore and the coast drops away in one of Sardinia's most arresting views.

E-bikes here are pedal-assisted, so you control the effort: the motor kicks in when you pedal, and the battery range is 60 to 120 kilometres. Well beyond what this tour covers. Tyre repair is included if something goes wrong on the road. The guide speaks English or Italian and keeps groups small. The tour runs with a minimum of two people. Minimum age is 15. The route is not suitable for anyone with spinal injuries, pregnancy, or poor cardiovascular health, though it is otherwise open to all fitness levels.

Top questions

What languages is the tour guided in?

Live guide in English and Italian.

What happens if it rains?

It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.

How steep are the paths on this e-bike tour around Alghero?

The tour climbs 600 metres over 40 km, so the gradient is gradual rather than punishing. The e-bike motor handles the steeper sections, and the guide adjusts the pace to match the group's ability. Terrain mixes asphalt roads, dirt tracks and forest paths.

What is Punta Giglio and why is it worth seeing?

Punta Giglio is a clifftop headland 60 metres above the sea on Alghero's coast, famous for its dramatic drop and for the World War II anti-aircraft batteries built into the rock. It combines natural wilderness with historical ruins, making it a stop that blends landscape and wartime heritage.

Can I swim or stop at Mugoni Beach during the tour?

Mugoni Beach is a stop on the route where you can see the sheltered cove and its clear water, though the tour does not include time for swimming. The beach sits almost completely enclosed in the bay of Porto Conte and is known for soft sand and transparent sea.

What happens if my e-bike gets a flat tyre?

Tyre repair is included in the tour, so if you get a puncture on the road, the guide or the operator handles it. The e-bike battery has a range of 60 to 120 kilometres, so range is not a concern on this 40 km route.

Do I need to pay extra to enter the Porto Conte Park?

Entry to Porto Conte Park is not included in the tour price and must be purchased separately. The tour does include a brief stop at the Porto Conte tower, which houses a museum about Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, where you can admire the view over the bay.
