Step-by-step itinerary

Electric bike ride to coastal spots

  • Ride through Oasi Bidderosa nature reserve
  • Cycle along Bérchida beach and lagoons
  • Visit Capo Comino beach and pinewood

The Experience

The motor on the e-bike handles the hard work on climbs and flat stretches, so you spend your energy on steering through the Oasi Biderosa—a nature reserve where paths wind between lagoons filled with hundreds of bird species. You'll cross from shaded woods of secular oaks and pines into open coastal sections, then drop down to the rose-coloured sands where the reserve meets the sea. The electric assist means you can ride longer and cover more ground without arriving exhausted.

North of Biderosa, the white-sand beach at Bérchida opens onto one of the Mediterranean's least spoiled stretches of coast. The route follows a path between the water and gentle hills covered in Mediterranean scrub, and where the hills meet the beach the Bérchida river estuary spreads into lagoons—thousands of pink flamingos live there. From Capo Comino, the easternmost point of the island, miles of dunes and juniper trees line the coast down toward the pinewood at Mandras. The old lighthouse at Capo Comino marks a turning point where the wild scenery gradually becomes more familiar, and the crystalline water stays clear enough to see the seafloor.

You'll need to contact the operator at least 72 hours before the ride to discuss the arrangements and let them prepare the bikes to your size and riding style. The guide speaks English or Italian and stays with the group throughout. Bring water and food—neither is provided—and wear the helmet supplied. The ride suits all fitness levels because the electric motor adjusts to your pace; the operator does not recommend it for travelers with spinal injuries or poor cardiovascular health, or for pregnant travelers.
