The experience

You'll start at Kibbutz Yad Mordechai on the northern border with Gaza, where the guide explains the area's geography and strategic position. From there, the route moves through Moshav Nativ Ha'asara, where paragliders attacked on October 7, then to Nahal Oz lookout, a memorial to 16 young observers killed that day. The guide shares what happened to the seven young women kidnapped from the area.

Kibbutz Be'eri is the emotional center of the tour. This community lost 102 people and had 32 kidnapped: among the highest casualties of any single location that day. You'll hear several personal stories of families affected, visit the bomb shelter where Eurovision contestant Yuval Rafael was trapped under bodies for eight hours, and learn about residents who died saving others. Lunch happens in the kibbutz's communal dining hall, where you'll also visit the site where Bipin Joshi, a Nepalese worker, was taken hostage and his friends were killed.

The second half of the day moves through memorials and recovery sites. Road 232 Bomb Shelter, recently resurfaced after rocket and RPG damage, marks where several young people were kidnapped. At Shuva Achim Rest Station, you meet active-duty soldiers at a volunteer hub established by the Trabelsi brothers. A place where you can offer support or make donations. The Nova Festival memorial near Kibbutz Re'im, where 364 young people were killed and 43 kidnapped, now holds personal tributes left by families and friends. The Car Cemetery near Moshav Tkuma displays 1,560 burned and destroyed vehicles from the attacks. QR codes near each one tell the stories of the people who owned them. The tour ends at the destroyed Sderot Police Station, where you'll learn about Amer Odeh Abu Sabila, a Bedouin construction worker who rescued two young girls after their parents were murdered.
