The experience
Your driver meets you at your Galway hotel or residence at an agreed time and outlines the route as you settle into a luxury Mercedes equipped with WiFi and bottled water. The first day traces Connemara's mountain and coastal scenery: you stop at Aughnanure Castle, a 15th-century stronghold of the O'Flaherty lords on the Drimneen river, then move through Clifden, the region's capital, and climb Sky Road for views over Clifden Bay and the offshore islands. Kylemore Abbey comes next, its lakeside setting backed by wooded mountains, with time to walk the 1000-acre grounds including Ireland's largest walled garden, or browse the craft shop and café run by Benedictine nuns.
The route then follows Killary Fjord, a deep Atlantic inlet ringed by mountains and home to seals and dolphins, before reaching Cong village between two lakes: famous for the 1952 film "The Quiet Man." Day two starts from your overnight hotel and heads to Dunguaire Castle, a 1520 fortress surrounded by Galway Bay waters and later a hub for Irish literary figures including W.B. Yeats and George Bernard Shaw. The Burren's lunar limestone landscape opens next, its wildflower-covered terrain formed millions of years ago when the area lay beneath the sea. Your guide explains the geology and points out the Aran Islands offshore. At Caherconnell, a working farm in the Burren valley run by the same family for five generations, you watch sheepdogs demonstrate their skill and explore a 5,000-year-old fort. The Cliffs of Moher (standing over 220 meters high and running for 12 kilometers) draw thousands of seabirds and 1.5 million annual visitors. You walk the cliff-edge path and visit the visitor center. Doolin village, known as Ireland's traditional music capital, offers authentic pubs with nightly sessions, and the Black Head Loop provides dramatic Burren views against Atlantic coastal scenery before you drive to Killarney for the night.
On day three, you choose between the Dingle Peninsula or the Ring of Kerry: a 179-kilometer scenic loop circling the Iveragh Peninsula with coastal cliffs, mountains, lakes and villages including colorful Sneem, divided by the Sneem River into two squares. Your driver returns you to Galway in the afternoon, or you can arrange an extra night in Killarney with onward transfer the next day at additional cost. The tour reserves the right to adjust the itinerary based on local conditions and opening times.

What is Kylemore Abbey and what can you do there?
Kylemore Abbey is a lakeside estate in Connemara backed by wooded mountains, built in the 1800s and now home to Benedictine nuns.
