The experience

The day starts with pickup from your Lombok accommodation (Senggigi, Kuta, Mataram or nearby), and a scenic drive through central Lombok's countryside. You arrive at Benang Stokel Waterfall, known locally as the "Thread Falls" for its twin streams cascading into a natural pool. A short trek deeper into the forest brings you to Benang Kelambu, where water flows like a curtain through layers of vines. This is where most travelers swim and photograph.

From the waterfalls, the route moves to Aik Berik Rice Terraces, where vibrant green paddies stretch across rolling hills. You walk through the fields, meet farmers at work, and take in panoramic views of the traditional rural landscape. The guide shares how this land has been farmed for generations and what the seasonal rhythms mean for the village. Then comes Sukarara Weaving Village, where you watch skilled women use traditional looms to create songket fabrics: intricate handwoven textiles that are a centuries-old island heritage. You can try weaving yourself or buy a piece directly from the artisans.

The tour ends with drop-off at your accommodation by around 4:30 PM. The trek is moderate and suitable for most fitness levels, though it does involve walking on forest paths and some uneven terrain. Your guide is local, speaks English, and carries insider knowledge of each stop. Bottled water is provided throughout, and all entrance fees are covered: no surprises at the gates.
