Padar Island hilltop views, Komodo dragons in their forest, and three snorkeling stops in one day

A full-day speedboat tour of Komodo National Park departs from your hotel at dawn and covers four islands: trek Padar Island's hilltop for panoramic views, snorkel and swim at Pink Beach, walk the monsoon forest with a ranger to spot Komodo dragons in their natural habitat, then drift snorkel at Manta Point and Siaba Island for manta rays and sea turtles. An English-speaking guide leads the entire day.

The experience

The day starts with hotel pickup between 5:30 and 5:40 am, then a 6 am speedboat departure from the harbor. This early start gets you to Padar Island while the light is still sharp for the trek to the hilltop, where the landscape opens across the three bays below: the defining view of Komodo National Park. The hike itself is short and direct, built around reaching that vantage point rather than a long forest walk.

After Padar, the boat moves to Pink Beach for snorkeling and swimming, then continues to Komodo Island itself. A park ranger meets you there for a briefing before leading a walk through the monsoon forest to find Komodo dragons in their natural habitat, along with other wildlife the forest holds. This is not a zoo or an enclosure. The walk happens on the island where the dragons live, and the ranger's presence is what makes the sighting possible and safe.

The afternoon splits between two more snorkeling sites. Taka Makasar, also called Manta Point, is where you drift snorkel hoping to encounter manta rays: sightings depend on weather and timing, so there's no guarantee, but the water and marine life are worth the attempt. The final stop is Siaba Island or Mawan, known for sea turtles, where you snorkel directly from the boat to see the reef life in that area. Lunch comes as a packed box during the day, and the boat returns you to your hotel by late afternoon.

Is this one for you? This tour works best for travelers comfortable with early mornings and a full day on the water, as the speedboat schedule and multiple snorkeling stops mean you're active from dawn through late afternoon. The Komodo dragon walk and three separate snorkeling sites pack a lot into one day, so it suits people who want to see as much of the park as possible rather than a slower pace at fewer stops.

Top questions

Can children come?

Yes. Ticket types: Youth (13 to 22 years); Child (4 to 12 years); Infant (under 4).

What happens if it rains?

It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.

What is the Komodo dragon walk actually like on Komodo Island?

A park ranger leads you on foot through the monsoon forest where the dragons live wild. The walk is a briefing and guided search rather than a long trek, and the ranger's knowledge is what makes spotting them possible while keeping the experience safe.

Will I definitely see manta rays at Manta Point?

Manta Point offers the best chance to see manta rays by drift snorkeling, but sightings are not guaranteed. They depend on weather conditions and the season. The snorkeling itself is worthwhile regardless, as the reef and marine life are active year-round.

How much time do I spend snorkeling versus on the boat?

The day includes three separate snorkeling and swimming stops: Pink Beach, Manta Point, and Siaba Island. The boat moves between islands, but the focus is on water time rather than travel time between sites.

What happens if the weather turns bad during the day?

The tour operates by speedboat, so rough seas or strong winds can affect snorkeling conditions and visibility. The guide and boat captain make decisions about which sites to visit based on the day's conditions.

Is lunch included, and what kind of food is it?

Lunch is included as a packed box. The specific contents are not detailed in advance, but it is provided during the day as part of the tour.
