The experience

The day starts with a 2pm pickup from your hotel in Sanur, Ubud, Nusadua, Tanjung Benoa, Seminyak or Kuta, then moves to a clifftop beach where the Eat Pray Love film was shot. You'll have time to take in the view from a cafe perched above the water before heading to the Uluwatu Temple, which clings to a cliff face above the Indian Ocean. The temple is the backdrop for the Kecak dance, a traditional Balinese performance that runs in two sessions: 6pm to 7pm or 7pm to 8pm. The operator does not guarantee first-show seating due to demand, so you may be assigned to whichever session has availability.

Dinner happens at an outdoor restaurant on Jimbaran Beach with a seafood menu. The tour wraps in the early evening. If time allows, you'll stop at a coffee plantation to taste Luwak coffee. Your air-conditioned minivan, fuel, bottled water, and an English or Japanese-speaking driver are all included. You'll also get a sarong to wear inside the temple. The whole experience runs six to seven hours from pickup to drop-off.
