The Experience

Sarai Mohana opens the day: a village known for silk weaving, where you watch craftspeople at their looms making Banarasi sarees—some of the finest in India. The weavers work with designs passed down through generations, and you see how the threads and patterns come together by hand. From there the car takes you to Kapildhara, where the tour shifts into participation. You learn the basics of home cooking from someone who does it daily, try your hand at ploughing and sowing seeds, watch cattle grazing and dairy farming in action, and spend time at the local school with the children who study there.

Chiraigaon comes next, a village where you visit a local house and meet the people who live there—not as a performance, but as part of how they spend their day. You see their work, their routines and the way they make their living. The final stop is Rameshwar, situated on the bank of the River Varuna on Varanasi's sacred path. Here you visit a cattle and agricultural farm, and also see the Sanskrit school and ashrams in the village, which give you a sense of how spiritual and practical life intertwine in rural India.

The guide speaks English or Hindi and is trained to explain the history, trade, agriculture and religion that shape these communities. Lunch is included partway through the day, along with tea or coffee. You travel in an air-conditioned car—either a small car for up to three people or a premium SUV, depending on which option you choose at checkout. The whole tour takes eight hours from pickup.
