The experience

The walk starts at the Gurudwara, where your guide explains the significance of Pushkar to the Sikh community and the role of Sikhism in the town. From there you move through temples built in heavy stone and Rajasthani haveli style: the 150-foot Brahma Temple (its current statue installed in 1784), the Old Vishnu Temple known for its workmanship, and the Atmateshwar Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva with a statue of his complete family. At each stop the guide offers the history and mythology behind the structure, not a rushed summary.

After the Brahma Temple you walk down to Brahma Ghat, where families offer prayers for happiness and pay tribute to the dead.
