You'll record a song and act in a one-minute Bollywood film directed by an industry screenwriter.

Join a 3-hour guided tour of a working Bollywood studio in Mumbai led by screenwriter and filmmaker Rahil Khan. You watch a live dance show, visit the sound room to learn dubbing and recording, take photos with actors on set, and have the option to record karaoke and act in a short film. Arrive anytime between 11am and 3pm; the tour runs as a group with other international travelers and includes bottled water, all fees and taxes, and access to the mini museum and costume trials.

The Experience

What does a Bollywood set actually look like when cameras are rolling? This tour puts you inside a working studio where actors and crew are filming, not a museum or a closed soundstage. You arrive at your chosen time between 11am and 3pm and spend three hours with Rahil Khan, a screenwriter and filmmaker who has led tours here for 12 years. The studio is his regular workplace, so you're seeing the industry as it operates—not a recreation of it.

The hands-on part is what separates this from a walk-through. You visit the sound room and learn how dubbing and sound recording work in Hindi cinema, then record your own karaoke track if you want to. On request, you can act in a one-minute Bollywood film that Khan directs on the spot. You also watch a live Bollywood dance performance and can join in; take photos and chat briefly with actors between takes; and try on costumes in the costume trials section. Short videos on Bollywood history and special effects run throughout. Bottled water is included, and the group stays small—usually a mix of international travelers.

Transport to the studio is not included but is available for an extra cost if you arrange it through the operator. The tour itself is affordable and built around flexibility: you pick your arrival window rather than locking into a single start time. This works well if you're staying in different parts of Mumbai or want to fit the tour around other plans.

Is this one for you?The studio is in Mumbai, and you arrive anytime between 11am and 3pm without a fixed start time—this works if you're using public transportation or staying in a different neighborhood and want to choose when to show up. Transport to the studio can be arranged separately for an extra cost, so you're not locked into a specific pickup or dependent on having a car.

Top questions

Can I actually talk to the actors on set, or is it just photos from a distance?

You can take photos and chat briefly with actors between takes when they're not actively filming. The studio is a working set, so interaction depends on what's being shot that day, but the tour is designed around access to the crew and cast in action.

What exactly happens in the one-minute Bollywood film I act in?

On request, Rahil Khan directs you in a short scene filmed right there at the studio. It's a hands-on experience, not a performance for an audience—you're acting with the same equipment and setup the professional productions use.

Is the live dance show something I have to participate in, or can I just watch?

The live Bollywood dance show is part of the tour, and joining in is optional. You can watch, dance along, or do both depending on what you're comfortable with.

What time should I arrive if I'm not sure how long I'll need to get to the studio?

You can arrive anytime between 11am and 3pm, so you pick the window that works for your schedule. If you're using public transportation or don't have a car, arriving earlier in that window gives you a buffer; transport can also be arranged for an extra cost.

Is the karaoke recording something I keep, or just for fun during the tour?

The karaoke recording is part of the hands-on experience during the tour. The tour focuses on the live studio experience rather than takeaway recordings.

How many people are usually on the tour at once?

The tour runs as a group experience with other international travelers. Group size is kept manageable so everyone gets time with the guide and access to the set.
