The experience
The tour picks you up from your hotel before dawn and drives you to Panna National Park, arriving at 6 AM for the jungle safari. The park sits in the Vindhya Hills along the Ken River and spreads across a plateau of tropical forest, teak woodland and cascading waterfalls: one of India's premier tiger reserves. Your guide navigates the park roads looking for the big cats and the 200-plus other species that live there, from leopards to migratory birds. The safari lasts until around 9 AM, when you head to a resort inside the park for breakfast (paid separately). By 11 AM you're back at your hotel.
The afternoon shift takes you to the Western and Eastern temple groups, both protected by UNESCO. Built starting around 950 AD under the Chandelas dynasty, they stand out for their Nagar-style architecture and the intricate erotic sculptures that cover their walls. A detail your guide will explain in context of the period and the dynasty's vision. The temples sit in Khajuraho town itself, so the drive from your hotel is short. You walk the sites with your guide, who shares knowledge of the carvings, the construction and the history behind them.
The full day runs 10 hours door-to-door. Shared transport picks you up from your hotel, airport or railway station and brings you back at the end. Your guide speaks English and knows both the park and the temples. Bring a valid passport. A scanned copy is required to confirm the booking, and you'll need the original on the day of travel. If you have dietary needs, mention them when you book.
