The zones shift by computer lottery just before you enter—no one chooses where the tigers are.

A day trip from Jaipur to Ranthambore National Park, 180 km away, with a three-hour jungle safari in an open-roof jeep or canter, park entry, and round-trip transport from your hotel or airport. You ride through the forest spotting Royal Bengal tigers, leopards, bears, deer, crocodiles and birds with an English-speaking driver; the zone you explore is assigned randomly by forest officials at the gate, so every departure is different. Passport details and a photo are required in advance to secure your booking.

The Experience

The driver picks you up from your Jaipur hotel, airport or railway station and drives you 180 km to Ranthambore—a three- to four-hour ride. You arrive, check in with your passport copy, and get assigned to a jeep or canter (depending on availability and your booking choice). The safari itself runs three hours: morning slots start at 6:00 or 7:00 AM depending on the season, and afternoon safaris run from 2:00 to 6:30 PM. Which zone you explore is decided by the forest computer at the gate, not by you or the operator, so you cannot plan which part of the park you'll cover.

Inside the open-roof vehicle, you move through the forest looking for tigers, but the park also holds leopards, sloth bears, hyenas, wild boar, sambar and chital deer, crocodiles, langurs and dozens of bird species. The three-hour window is fixed—you cannot extend it or cut it short—and the driver speaks English. Bottled water is included; meals are not. After the safari ends, you return to Jaipur the same day, arriving back at your hotel or residence by evening.

Booking requires your passport number, a photo, and your WhatsApp number for confirmation. Safari permits are issued on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be refunded once confirmed. You can book up to 90 days in advance. The tour suits all fitness levels, though the open jeep means you are exposed to sun and dust for the full three hours. The operator recommends booking at least one week ahead to secure availability.

What’s included

  • Round-trip transport from your Jaipur hotel, airport or railway station.
  • national park entrance tickets.
  • three-hour jungle safari in an open-roof jeep or canter (depending on availability).
  • bottled water.
  • fuel, parking and driver fees.

Is this one for you?Book the morning safari if you want the best chance of tiger sightings—the animals are more active in cooler hours. The afternoon option works better if you're arriving in Jaipur the same day and need time to reach the park without an early start. Either way, the open jeep means you'll be in sun and dust for the full three hours, so bring hat, sunscreen and water beyond what's provided.

Top questions

What animals am I most likely to see on the Ranthambore safari?

Royal Bengal tigers are the main draw, but sightings are never guaranteed. The park also holds leopards, sloth bears, hyenas, wild boar, sambar and chital deer, crocodiles, langurs and a variety of birds. What you encounter depends on the zone assigned to your safari and the time of day.

How far is Ranthambore National Park from Jaipur?

Ranthambore is approximately 180 km from Jaipur and takes three to four hours by car. The driver picks you up from your hotel, airport or railway station and handles the full round trip.

Can I choose which time of day I want to do the safari?

Yes, you can book either a morning or afternoon safari depending on the season. October to March offers morning slots from 6:30 or 7:00 AM and afternoon slots from 2:00 to 2:30 PM. April to June shifts the morning earlier (6:00 AM) and the afternoon later (3:00 to 3:30 PM). Exact times vary by month.

What do I need to bring or prepare before booking?

You must provide your passport number and a photo in advance—this is mandatory to secure your safari permit. You also need to carry the same ID card you submitted during booking. Bring sun protection, as the jeep has an open roof and you'll be exposed for the full three hours.

Is the safari refundable if I need to cancel?

No. Once your safari booking is confirmed, it is non-refundable and non-transferable. The operator recommends booking at least one week in advance to ensure availability.

What's included in the tour price?

The tour includes round-trip transport from Jaipur (pickup and drop-off at your hotel, airport or railway station), national park entrance tickets, the three-hour jungle safari in a jeep or canter, bottled water, fuel, parking and driver fees. Meals are not included.
