The experience

Three hours is enough to move from watching the dyes mix to pressing wooden blocks onto fabric yourself. The workshop happens in a dedicated studio inside a century-old house that now holds a multi-designer store, and you work alongside the artisans who do this daily. They walk you through how the dyes are made and applied, then hand you the blocks. You choose the colors, the pressure, the pattern. Your hands end up stained in blues, pinks and reds by the time you finish.

You pick two items to print and keep: a scarf, tote bag, bandana or apron. Both leave the studio with you, printed in the designs you made that morning. The workshop provides every block, dye and piece of fabric. You bring nothing but your hands and the willingness to get them messy. Water and juice flow throughout the session, so you stay hydrated while you work.

When the printing ends, a traditional Indian meal arrives: home-style, not restaurant plating.
