The experience

The ride starts with slow walks through pastoral paths. The pace lets you settle into the saddle before moving to trots across open fields. Marwari horses are native to Rajasthan, bred for long rides in this terrain, and their most distinctive feature is the lyre-shaped ears that curve inward and can turn 180 degrees to catch sound. You'll canter into sandy riverbeds and farmland where village folk react to the sight of these animals galloping through. A trained tour captain rides ahead on horseback, familiar with the route and there to brief you before you start. A backup vehicle with a medical kit follows the group.

Midway through, you stop near a canal or open field where refreshments and freshly picked fruit from local fields are served, along with tea. Breakfast is included before or after the ride depending on the time you book. The whole experience on horseback runs 1.5 to 2 hours within the 3- to 4-hour outing. High-quality English tack and saddlery are provided, though you're welcome to bring your own riding gear if you prefer.
