The Experience
Your driver picks you up from your New Delhi hotel (or airport, if you provide flight details) and drives you north toward Rishikesh, where the Ganges flows out of the Himalayan foothills. The route takes roughly 3 to 4 hours each way, so you'll spend the middle of the day exploring the two cities. Rishikesh sits on both banks of the river, connected by rope bridges and lined with ashrams and temples; the itinerary can include Lakshman Jhula, Ram Jhula, Sivananda Ashram, Gita Bhawan and Swarg Ashram, or you can skip ahead to Haridwar if you prefer to spend more time there.
Haridwar is the older city and the more sacred one for Hindu pilgrims — the Ganges exits the mountains here, and Har Ki Pauri is the largest of the ghats (bathing steps), where the river-worshipping ceremony takes place each evening. You'll be there to watch the Ganga Aarti, when priests light tiny flickering lamps and float them off the steps into the water; the ceremony lasts 40 to 60 minutes and fills the ghat with worshipers. The tour also includes Bara Bazaar, the main market, and a boat ride on the river in Rishikesh. Water and an English or Hindi-speaking guide are included; if you want a priest to perform a puja (blessing ceremony) for you, that's available on request and at your own cost.
The whole day runs 14 to 16 hours door-to-door, which is why the vehicle is private — a sedan for one or two people, a six-seater for three to six, or a van for seven to ten. The car is air-conditioned and the driver will coordinate with you by WhatsApp. Good food and clean restrooms are available along the route. Alcohol and smoking aren't permitted on this religious and cultural tour, so plan accordingly. If you want to extend to an overnight stay, contact the operator directly about adding a hotel and a second day in Haridwar.
What’s included
- Private air-conditioned vehicle sized for your group (sedan for 1–2 people, six-seater for 3–6, van for 7–10).

What is the Ganga Aarti ceremony at Har Ki Pauri?
The Ganga Aarti is an evening river-worshipping ceremony at Har Ki Pauri ghat in Haridwar, where priests light small oil lamps and float them on the Ganges as an offering. The ceremony lasts 40 to 60 minutes and draws worshipers to the steps; it's one of the most sacred rituals on the river and the centerpiece of this tour.
Do I need a guide, or can I do this tour on my own?
You can book transport only or add an English or Hindi-speaking guide at checkout. The guide tailors the itinerary to your interests and can take you to ashrams, temples, the rope bridges and the market, or focus on whichever sites matter most to you.
How long is the drive from New Delhi to Haridwar and Rishikesh?
The drive north from New Delhi to Rishikesh takes roughly 3 to 4 hours, and Haridwar is another 30 minutes beyond that. The whole day is 14 to 16 hours including the drive back, so you'll have most of the afternoon and evening in the two cities.
What's included in the tour price?
Hotel pickup and drop-off in New Delhi, private air-conditioned transport, entry to Bara Bazaar, the Ganga Aarti ceremony, water bottles, and a guide if you choose that option. Food and drinks are not included, but good restaurants and clean restrooms are available along the route.
Can I book this tour if I'm arriving at Delhi airport?
Yes — the driver will pick you up at the airport if you provide your flight details at the time of booking. The same 14 to 16 hour day applies, starting from your arrival.
What should I know before booking?
