The experience

You arrive at a family home in Jaipur and spend the afternoon cooking alongside your local host. The class covers five dishes: pakora with chutney, papad, daal with seasonal vegetables like okra or cauliflower, baati (a fresh Indian bread roasted in the oven), bundi ka raita made with curd and spices, and halwa, the traditional Rajasthani dessert with nuts and saffron. As you work through each one, your host explains how Indian families use spices and the reasoning behind each step, not just the recipe, but the way the food fits into daily life.

Between cooking tasks, you'll learn about local culture and traditions. You'll pick up how to greet and treat guests in Indian culture, and there's a lighter moment when you make papad together. The class includes masala chai, lemon water and jeera tonic to drink while you cook. Once everything is ready, you sit down to dinner in the family environment and eat the dishes you've prepared, sharing the meal with your host and their household.

An air-conditioned vehicle picks you up from your hotel and brings you back. You'll receive digital copies of all the recipes so you can recreate the dishes at home. If you have any food allergies, let the operator know when you book.
