Jet Ski Tour Reykjavík Bay: Ride Your Own Ski
You control the jet ski; the guide controls the route and your safety.
A two-hour jet ski activity in Reykjavík Bay where you ride your own machine in a small group with expert guides, warm waterproof drysuits and all equipment provided. The tour departs from Gufunes, includes about one hour of riding time, and passes Puffin Island (May–Aug), Viðey Island and downtown Reykjavík views, with free riding between stops. Children from age 7 are welcome; pickup is included.
The Experience
You start at the base in Gufunes, where guides fit you into a warm, waterproof drysuit before you ever touch the jet ski. The machines are stable, easy to operate and built for two riders, so if you choose the shared option you'll have a partner; if you book single rider, the jet ski is yours alone. An expert guide leads the group through Reykjavík Bay, setting the pace and choosing the route while you focus on handling the throttle and the turns.
The ride itself runs about an hour, broken into segments with scenic stops. You'll pass Viðey Island and, depending on the season, Puffin Island (May through August), where the group slows to take in the view. Downtown Reykjavík appears from the water—a perspective most visitors never get. Between the named stops there's time for free riding, a chance to get comfortable with the machine and test what it can do in a secure area.
All equipment is provided, which means no rental fees hiding in the fine print and no guessing whether your gear will keep you warm enough in Icelandic water. The drysuit does that work. The whole outing takes two hours from arrival to departure, so it fits into a morning or an afternoon without eating your whole day.

How much of the two hours is actually spent riding the jet ski?
About one hour of the two-hour tour is spent on the water riding; the rest covers gearing up, safety briefing, scenic stops and transitions between riding segments.
Can I ride alone, or do I have to share a jet ski?
You choose at checkout: single rider means one person per jet ski, or you can book a shared jet ski with a partner on the same machine.
What happens if I've never ridden a jet ski before?
The tour is designed for beginners; the jet skis are stable and easy to operate, guides lead the group and set the pace, and you'll have a safety briefing before heading out into the bay.
Will I see puffins on this tour?
Puffin Island is a stop on the route from May through August; outside those months the group still visits Viðey Island and views downtown Reykjavík from the water instead.
What's the water temperature, and will the drysuit keep me warm?
Reykjavík Bay water is cold year-round; the warm, waterproof drysuit provided is designed to keep you comfortable for the duration of the ride.
Is pickup from my hotel included?
Pickup is included in at least one of the available options at checkout; confirm which option you select to verify pickup is part of your booking.
