The experience
The lagoon centers on a series of distinct bathing spaces, each with its own temperature and character. You move between the Forest Pool for calm soaking, a cold plunge pool for shock and recovery, and the grotto: a private alcove carved into the landscape. Two swim-up bars let you order drinks without leaving the water. The saunas sit elevated with views across the Hvíta River, and the cascading waterfall provides both visual focus and the sound of moving water throughout the grounds.
What you bring and what's waiting depends on which pass you choose at checkout. All three options (Lerki, Birki and Ösp) cover admission and a locker, plus shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. The Lerki Pass adds a towel and one drink. The Ösp Pass goes further, including the towel and drink plus a two-course meal at Ylja Restaurant, which sits on-site and works seasonal Icelandic ingredients into its menu. You can eat before or after your time in the water, or skip the meal entirely if you prefer to focus on bathing alone.
The site is built for accessibility: all areas and surfaces accommodate wheelchairs, and the grounds suit any fitness level. Children from age 8 onward are welcome. A typical visit runs around 2.5 hours, though there's no fixed schedule. You move at your own pace between the pools, saunas and grotto, staying as long as you want within that window.
