Snowmobiling and natural ice cave exploration on Langjökull Glacier, departing from Geysir Parking lot with a five-hour round trip that includes super jeep transport, full gear, expert instruction and two people per snowmobile. A valid driver's license is required to operate the machine. Children from age 8 can join with one adult per child.

The experience

You meet your guide at Geysir Parking lot, just behind Geysir Centre, and climb into a super jeep or monster truck for the scenic drive to the glacier base camp. Once there, you gear up in a snowmobile suit, gloves, balaclava and helmet, then receive instruction from your guide before heading out onto the snow. Two riders share each snowmobile, though single-rider options are available for an additional fee if space allows.

The ride itself takes you across Langjökull Glacier's open terrain, moving at pace through the landscape before you reach the natural ice cave. Your guide provides information about the glacier and the cave formation while you explore and take photos inside. After time in the cave, you return to base camp and ride back to Geysir Parking lot, completing the full loop in about five hours.

A valid driver's license is required to operate the snowmobile. The activity is not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, poor cardiovascular health, or pregnancy. Children under 8 cannot join. Older children need one adult per child on the tour.
