The boat crosses the lake to Santiago de Atitlán, a Tzutujil Maya village where you go ashore and walk the main street lined with oil paintings, woven baskets and textiles. You can visit the confraternity shrine of Maximón (also called RiLaj Mam), a local saint figure where people of different faiths come to ask for health and prosperity. After time in the village, you reboard for the cruise back to Panajachel, watching the volcanoes recede across the water.
